Description:
Female: Head transverse, 1.5 times wider than long, as wide as the thorax, with short, distinct hairs. Vertex and frons with punctate sculpture, consisting of small, irregular, round depressions. Frons not concave, without transverse striae. Posterior ocelli adjacent to the compound eye margin, the distance between them less than the diameter of the ocellus. Compound eyes oval, longer than wide (20:17), nearly smooth, without hairs. Post gena slightly swollen and with round punctation. Antennae 12-segmented, clavate. The first antennal segment longer than wide (3.7 times) and about 2.5 times longer than the second antennal segment. The second segment is longer than the third; subsequent segments progressively shorten. The seventh antennal segment swollen, longer than wide; segments 8, 9, and 10 are wider than segment 7 and shorter than segment 12.
Thorax longer than wide, the mesoscutum with two longitudinal furrows. Scutellum without spines. Mesoscutum and scutellum with rows of small round punctures, with short, indistinct hairs. Metanotum protrudes as a small plate with 3 sharp lobes; propodeum with a long, sharp spine. Forewings longer than wide (3.6 times) and wider than the thorax (3.3 times). Without a postmarginal vein.
Abdomen 4 times longer than wide. The anterior part of the first abdominal tergite slightly raised; the last abdominal tergite with a sharp spine. The third abdominal tergite longer and wider than the other abdominal tergites. The fifth tergite is longer than the sixth. Tergites and sternites of the abdomen with longitudinal striations, almost covering their entire surface.
Body black, slightly metallic. Compound eyes dark brown. Antennae (segments 1-5) and legs brown; the remaining antennal segments black.
Male and biology unknown.
Size:
Body length 4.1 mm. This new species is closely related to Triteleia kotturensis Sharma, 1980, but it is distinguished from Sharma’s species by the sculpture on the frons and head and the lack of a median longitudinal furrow on the mesoscutum.
