Latin name:Telenomus leviculus
Vietnamese Name:Ong telenomus leviculus
Family:Scelionidae
Order:Hymenoptera
Class (Group):

Description:

Female: Head width 1.8 times greater than its length, slightly wider than the thorax. The vertex behind the posterior ocelli is not abruptly angled, without a transverse ridge, and has fine punctate sculpture. The posterior ocelli are located close to the compound eyes; the distance between them is no more than the diameter of a single ocellus. The frons above the antennal sockets is almost flat, without transverse striae, and smooth. The sides of the frons near the compound eyes have fine punctate sculpture. Compound eyes are oval, longer than wide (12:8), with long, dense hairs at 56x magnification.

The gena is shorter than the length of the compound eye. The gena exhibits fine punctate sculpture. The antennae have 11 segments and are clavate. The scape is 6 times longer than wide and 2.4 times longer than antennal segment 2. Antennal segment 2 is about twice as long as antennal segment 3. Antennal segments 4 and 5 are nearly equal in length. The clava has 5 segments, and the total length of the claval segments equals the length of the scape, being approximately 4 times greater than their greatest width.

The thorax is longer than wide, its length less than that of the abdomen. The mesoscutum lacks a median longitudinal groove and has fine punctate sculpture. The scutellum has sculpture similar to that on the mesoscutum, but it is less distinct and slightly shiny. The forewing is approximately 3 times longer than wide and 2.5 times longer than the width of the thorax, with the postmarginal vein twice as long as the stigmal vein. The hind wing is narrow; the fringe hairs are as long as the greatest width of the hind wing.

The abdomen is 2.5 times longer than wide, slightly narrower than the thorax. The first tergite lacks a horn and is twice as wide as long. The second tergite is larger in width and length than the other abdominal tergites; it is about 2.4 times longer than the first tergite. The second tergite is wider than it is long. The subsequent tergites become progressively shorter and narrower, ending in a sharp point. The first tergite and the base of the second tergite have short longitudinal striae; the remainder of the second tergite and subsequent tergites are smooth.

Body color is black. The radicle, scape, and legs are yellow. The remaining antennal segments range from dark brown to black. Wings are hyaline (transparent), and wing veins are brown.

Male: Unknown.

Size:

Body length approximately 0.9 mm.
