Latin name:Telenomus cereus
Vietnamese Name:Ong telenomus cereus
Family:Scelionidae
Order:Hymenoptera
Class (Group):

Description:

Female: Head width is 2.5 times greater than its length and is slightly wider than the thorax. The vertex behind the ocelli bends abruptly, possessing a sharp, angular transverse ridge medially. The frons above the antennal sockets is not concave and lacks transverse striations. The vertex has small, faint granular sculpturing. The posterior ocelli are positioned close to the compound eyes, with the distance between them not exceeding the diameter of the ocellus. The temple behind the compound eyes is very narrow, its width less than approximately one-quarter the width of the compound eye. The compound eye is oval, with a length greater than its width (8:5), and its length exceeds the length of the cheek. The cheek is almost smooth and shiny. The antenna has 11 segments and is clavate. The scape is four times longer than wide and 2.6 times longer than the second antennal segment. Subsequent antennal segments become progressively shorter. The antennal club has 5 segments, and the total length of the club segments is approximately three times greater than their greatest width and longer than the scape.

The thorax has equal length and width, the width being greater than the abdomen’s width. The mesoscutum lacks a median longitudinal groove, with small granular sculpturing. The scutellum is smooth and shiny. The forewing length slightly exceeds its width and is 2.5 times the width of the thorax. The postmarginal vein is twice as long as the stigmal vein in this wing. The hindwing is normally narrow.

The abdomen’s length exceeds its width. The first tergite is short, its width is about twice its length, and its length is half that of the second tergite. The second tergite is half as long as the abdomen, and its width exceeds its length. The subsequent tergites are very short and narrow. The ovipositor is exposed. The base of the first and second tergites has short longitudinal striations; the remaining parts of these two tergites and the other tergites are smooth and shiny.

The body is black. The antennae are black. The wings are hyaline (transparent), with pale brown veins; the legs and tarsi are yellow, and the remaining leg segments are dark brown to black.

Male: The male resembles the female in size and shape. The male antenna has 12 segments, is filiform (thread-like), and, excluding the scape, the subsequent segments decrease in size. The scape is yellow, and the remaining antennal segments are dark brown. The legs are yellow.

Size:

Body length is approximately 0.5 mm.
