Latin name:Ptilostenius anthedon
Vietnamese Name:Ong ptilostenius anthedon
Family:Scelionidae
Order:Hymenoptera
Class (Group):

Description:

Female: Head wider than long, slightly wider than the thorax. Vertex behind the ocelli and compound eyes without abrupt curvature, lacking transverse carinae. The postocular area is wide, its width equal to 1/2 the width of the compound eye. Frons above the antennal sockets not concave, without transverse striae. Posterior ocelli located at a distance greater than 4 times the distance between the posterior ocellus and the anterior ocellus. Compound eyes oval, nearly round, slightly longer than wide (12:10). The length of the compound eye is greater than the length of the gena.

A groove connects the compound eye and the base of the maxilla. The surface of the head is almost smooth and shiny. Compound eyes without hairs. Antennae 12-segmented, clavate. The scape is approximately 4.5 times longer than wide, 4 times longer than the radicle, and approximately 3.5 times longer than antennal segment 2. Antennal segments 2 and 3 are equal in length. Segments 4-6 are gradually shorter. Antennal segment 6 is almost as long as it is wide. The antennal club has 6 segments, the total length of the club segments is 4 times greater than their greatest width, and equal to the length of the scape.

The thorax is longer than wide. The pronotum slightly extends forward, resembling a short neck. The mesoscutum lacks a median groove. The scutellum is rounded posteriorly, without spines. The postscutellum is narrow and lacks spines. The mesoscutum and scutellum have small granular sculpturing. Forewings and hindwings are narrow, with short fringe hairs. The forewing is approximately 4.8 times longer than wide. The postmarginal vein is reduced. The subcostal vein is shorter than the marginal vein. The marginal vein is very long, approximately 6 times longer than the stigmal vein.

The abdomen is as wide as the thorax, and it is longer than wide. Abdominal tergite 1 is nearly as long as it is wide and almost as long as tergite 2. Tergite 3 is longer than tergite 2. Tergite 2 is approximately 2 times wider than long. Tergite 3 is 1.5 times wider than long. Subsequent tergites gradually narrow. The ovipositor is exposed, not long.

Tergite 1, the anterior part of tergite 2, and the anterior part of tergite 3 have longitudinal striations. The remaining parts of tergites 2, 3, and other tergites are smooth and shiny. Abdominal sternites are inflated, and there is no submarginal groove between them and the inflected part of the tergites. Body with head and thorax black; the posterior 1/3 of the scape and the pedicel yellow. Mandibles, legs, and abdominal segment 1 yellow. Remaining abdominal segments are brown.
