Latin name:Psilanteris orios
Vietnamese Name:Ong psilanteris orios
Family:Scelionidae
Order:Hymenoptera
Class (Group):

Female:

  • Head: Width 1.8 times greater than length. Vertex behind the posterior ocelli without abrupt curvature. Posterior ocelli adjacent to the edge of the compound eye, the distance between them not exceeding the diameter of an ocellus. Temples narrow. Frons slightly concave medially, without transverse striations. Compound eyes oval, length greater than width (15:12), the distance between them equal to the width of the eye. Length of the compound eye greater than the length of the gena. A longitudinal groove extends from the lower edge of the compound eye, with short oblique lines on either side.
  • Head surface with small granular texture. Head and compound eyes without setae. Antennae 12-segmented, clavate. The first segment is 4 times longer than wide, and 2.6 times longer than the second antennal segment. The second antennal segment is 2 times longer than wide and longer than the third antennal segment. Subsequent antennal segments shorten gradually; segment 6 wider than long, with its length equal to that of segment 5. The clava is 6-segmented, with the total length of the segments exceeding the greatest width by 3 times. The length-to-width ratios of the claval segments are as follows: 4:5; 3:6; 3:6.5; 3:6.5; 3:6; 4:5.
  • Thorax: Length equal to width. Mesoscutum without a median groove. Metanotum with a triangular spine medially. Propodeum short. Mesoscutum and scutellum with striations similar to those on the head. Forewing 2.8 times longer than wide; postmarginal vein absent; stigmal vein 1.5 times longer than the marginal vein.
  • Abdomen: Length 1.4 – 1.5 times greater than width, as wide as the thorax. First tergite slightly shorter than the second (7:9). Width of the first tergite twice its length. Width of the second tergite 2.7 – 2.8 times its length. The third tergite longer than the others, with a width 1.5 times greater than its length. Longitudinal grooves present on the first and second tergites. Remaining tergites with small granular texture.
  • Body color: Dark brown. Head: Black. Compound eyes: White. Claval segments of the antennae: Dark brown. Other antennal segments and mandibles: Yellow-brown. Wing veins: Brown. Legs: Yellow.

Male:

  • Resembles the female in shape and color, but differs in the following: antennae filiform, segments 4 to 11 becoming wider, and longer than wide (most evident from segments 7-11); segment 12 is longer than wide (4:3) and slightly narrower than the preceding segment. Antennal segments from the second onwards are dark brown; the basal segment is yellow-brown with a dark brown tip.

Measurements:

  • Body length: 1.4 mm.

Remarks:

  • This species is closely related to Psilanteris waschis Kozlov et Le, differing as indicated in the identification key.

Distribution:

  • Vietnam: Hoa Binh, Ha Noi.
