Latin name:Psilanteris cereus
Vietnamese Name:Ong psilanteris cereus
Family:Scelionidae
Order:Hymenoptera
Class (Group):

Description:

Female: Head is 1.5 times wider than long and as wide as the thorax. The vertex behind the posterior ocelli does not abruptly curve. The temple is narrow, its width significantly less than that of the compound eye. The posterior ocelli are close to the edge of the compound eye, with the distance between them less than the diameter of an ocellus. The frons is slightly concave, not deeply so, and without transverse ridges. The compound eye is egg-shaped, 1.4 times longer than wide. The distance between the two compound eyes equals the width of one eye. The length of the compound eye exceeds the length of the cheek. There is a deep longitudinal groove from the lower edge of the compound eye to the base of the mandible, with faint and oblique grooves on either side. The vertex, frons, temple, and cheek have a fine reticulated pattern.

The head and compound eyes are almost without hairs. The antenna has 12 segments and is club-shaped. The basal segment is 4.8 times longer than wide, 5 times longer than the radicle, and 2.6 times longer than the second antennal segment. The second antennal segment is 2 times longer than wide and only slightly longer than the third antennal segment. Antennal segments 4-6 gradually shorten. The length and width of the 6th antennal segment are almost equal. The antennal club has 6 segments, the total length of the club segments is 3 times their greatest width, and is longer than the basal antennal segment. The ratio of length to width of the club segments is as follows: 2:4; 3.5:5; 3.5:5; 3.5:5; 3:5; 5:4.

The thorax is as long as wide. The mesoscutum has two longitudinal grooves. The scutellum is rounded posteriorly and lacks spines. The metanotum is narrow, with a small triangular tooth in the middle. The propodeum is short. The mesoscutum and scutellum have reticulated patterns similar to those on the head. The lateral thoracic plates have fainter patterns than the mesoscutum. The forewing is 2.5 times longer than wide, the postmarginal vein is reduced, and the stigmal vein is longer than the marginal vein.

The abdomen is 1.7 times longer than wide. The first tergite is shorter than the second tergite and 2.5 times wider than long. The second tergite is about 3 times wider than long. The third tergite is longer than the second and fourth tergites; the width of this tergite is 1.5 times its length. The subsequent tergites gradually shorten. The first and second tergites have longitudinal grooves, the third and subsequent tergites have a fine reticulated pattern.

The body is black. The anterior half of the basal antennal segment and the radicle are yellowish-brown; the posterior half of the basal segment and the remaining antennal segments are black. The mandibles are brown. Wing veins are brown. Legs are yellowish-brown. The abdomen is dark brown.

The male resembles the female in shape and color. The antenna has 12 segments, is thread-like, with the basal segment about 3 times longer than the second antennal segment. The last 6 antennal segments are black, the remaining segments are yellowish-brown. Legs are yellowish-brown.
