Latin name:Probaryconus maridris
Vietnamese Name:Ong probaryconus maridris
Family:Scelionidae
Order:Hymenoptera
Class (Group):

Description:

Female: Head horizontal, with a width greater than twice its length, equal to the width of the thorax. Vertex with rugose sculpture interspersed with small granules, with short setae. Frons not concave, without transverse carinae, with similar sculpture to that of the vertex. Posterior ocelli situated close to the compound eyes. Compound eyes oval, length approximately 1.5 times greater than width, larger than the length of the gena. Compound eyes with short setae. Sculpture on the gena similar to that on the vertex. Antennae 12-segmented, clavate. Scape length is 5.5 times greater than width, 4.4 times longer than the radicle, and 2.7 times longer than antennal segment 2. Antennal segment 2 longer than segment 3 (4:3), segment 3 is approximately 1.5 times longer than segment 4, segment 5 shorter than segment 4, and segment 6 has a length greater than its width. Segments 7 and beyond have a length clearly shorter than their width, with the following length to width ratios: 2:3; 3:4; 3:4.5; 3:4; 4:3. The total length of the clavate segments is greater than the length of the scape.

Thorax longer than wide. Mesoscutum without a median furrow. Mesoscutum with sculpture similar to that of the vertex, scutellum with similar sculpture to that of the mesoscutum but more sparse. Metanotum is a narrow strip, without a median spine. Metapostnotum deeply concave in the middle. Pleural sclerites with impressed punctures and sculpture similar to that on the mesoscutum.

Forewing longer than its width and 2.7 times the width of the thorax, postmarginal vein twice as long as the stigmal vein, and the stigmal vein approximately 1.5 times longer than the marginal vein.

Abdomen 2.8 times longer than wide, wider than the thorax. Abdominal tergite 1 with a horn anteriorly, its length equal to that of tergites 2 and 4. The width of tergite 3 is greater than that of the other tergites. The remaining tergites are small. Tergite 1 (excluding the horn) and the anterior half of tergite 2 have longitudinal carinae. The remaining part of tergite 2 and the other tergites have small punctures, with sparse short setae.

Body color is cockroach brown. Head and compound eyes are black. Antennae are yellowish-brown from the scape to segment 5, remaining segments are black. Sides of the thorax and wing veins are yellow.

Male: Similar in shape, size, and color to the female, but the antennae are filiform, not clavate. Dorsal surface of the body dark brown.

Measurements:

Body length 2.4 mm.

Similar to Probaryconus pachmarhicus Sharma, 1978, but differs from Sharma’s species in having a black thorax, dark brown abdomen, forewing postmarginal vein 1.3 times longer than the stigmal vein, abdominal tergites 1 and 2 with almost completely covering longitudinal carinae, and other tergites are smooth.
