Description:

This is a woody vine. Young stems are sparsely hairy, but leaf nodes have dense rings of hairs. The leaf blades are ovate-lanceolate with a rounded base, exhibiting five veins originating from the petiole. Tertiary veins are in a ladder-like pattern. Petioles are 6-8 mm long. Flowers are borne in terminal clusters, are large, and display a pink-purple hue. The calyx is cup-shaped, sparsely hairy. Petals number four, are oval-shaped. Stamens are numerous, yellow, and have anthers with pointed appendages. The fruit is large, cup-shaped, approximately 1 cm tall and 5-6 mm wide. Mature seeds are black and contain numerous small seeds within the fruit. The fruit dehisces (opens) upon ripening.

Flowering occurs from April to May, and fruiting occurs from June to September annually.

Distribution:

This species is distributed from Thanh Hoa to Kontum, Bao Loc, Deo Chuoi, and Dong Nai. It typically grows on or near large trees along forest edges or in large clumps.
