Adult Male:
Resembling Treron apicauda lowei, with the following distinctions: head transitioning to the grayish-green color of the back and tail; under-tail coverts largely reddish-brown, particularly with less yellow on the flanks. Eyes are pink, orange-yellow, or blue. The beak is blue with a gray tip. Skin around and in front of the eyes is blue. Legs are red.
Measurements:
- Wing (male): 155 – 170 mm, (female): 148 – 162 mm;
- Tail (male): 175 – 190 mm, (female): 182 – 187 mm;
- Tarsus: 19 – 21 mm;
- Bill: 19 – 21 mm.
Distribution:
This subspecies is distributed in Laos and Vietnam. In Vietnam, it has been observed in the forests of Thanh Hoa and the Northwest, near the Laos-Vietnam border.
