Identification:
This arboreal frog species is very small, with a body length of approximately 37 mm. The skin on the anterior half of the body, as well as the rump and heels, is rough, and the color is white or a pale pink. The tympanum (eardrum) is distinct and as wide as the eye. The limbs and mid-dorsal region are a dark, mottled brown. The eyes are pink. A black patch connects the eyes across the top of the head. The feet have a thin web extending three-quarters of the way along the toes.
Biology and Ecology:
Inhabits forested areas at elevations of 400-1,500 meters. Adults live inside tree cavities or fallen trees that collect rainwater. The breeding season is from April to October. Eggs are laid in clumps of 5-6 eggs, attached to the cavity walls above the water surface. Tadpoles, upon development, fall into the water. They feed on insects and mosquito larvae found in their habitat.
