Adult Bird:
The adult bird has a white head followed by a black band around the neck. Behind the black band, there is a narrow white stripe. The flanks are white. The entire back and wing coverts are dark brown, except for some of the median and greater coverts, the shoulders, and the secondary feathers, which have white tips. The primary coverts are white. The tail is dark brown with white tips, and the outer edges of the outer tail feathers are edged with white. The underparts are white.
Juvenile:
The juvenile bird has a pale rufous head and neck. The eyes are brown; the bare skin around the eyes is yellow. The beak is reddish-brown. The legs are dirty white.

- Wing: 140 – 158 mm
- Tail: 87 – 94 mm
- Tarsus: 41 – 42 mm
- Bill: 29 – 30 mm
Distribution:
The bird is distributed in Southern Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Southern China, and Cambodia.
In Vietnam, it is found in almost all provinces from North to South.
