Identification:
This bat is small, with a body length of 42 mm, a tail length of 20 mm, and a forearm length of 44–47 mm. Ear length is 2.8 mm, foot length is 9.5 mm, skull length is 19.3 mm, zygomatic arch width is 9.1 mm, mandibular length is 6.3 mm, and upper incisors are small. Lower incisors are trifid (three-lobed). The noseleaf is quadrangular, with no sides parallel to the wing-like extension. The posterior noseleaf is nearly triangular, encircling the upper part and concealed beneath the sella (saddle-shaped structure). The base of the sella expands abruptly to the width of the noseleaf. The tragus (ear flap) is about half the length of the ear.
Biology and Ecology:
This species was collected in a dry, deciduous forest near rice fields. It typically roosts in caves and tunnels. Its diet consists of mosquitoes and insects.
Distribution:
- Vietnam: This species is found in Lao Cai, Ha Nam, Bac Thai, and Vinh Phu provinces.
- Worldwide: Thailand, Malaysia.
