Identification:
Bats are of medium size, with a body length of 58-63 mm, forearm length of 49-54 mm, tail length of 22-26 mm, and skull length of 19.8-22.6 mm. Ear length is 21-25 mm (based on 24 bat specimens from the Malay Peninsula). Weight is 12.5g. The upper body is dark brown, transitioning to reddish-brown; the underparts are slightly lighter. The ears are moderately large. The noseleaf is simple, lacking accessory structures on the nasal wing; the fleshy connection is broad and rounded, beginning below the tip of the noseleaf, forming a slender V-shaped notch.
Biology and Ecology:
They inhabit caves. They forage in the lower strata of montane evergreen forests or limestone forests.
Distribution:
- Global: From India to China, Southeast Asia, Sumatra, Java, and Borneo.
- Vietnam: Found in Lào Cai (Sapa), Lạng Sơn, Ninh Bình, and Lâm Đồng.
