Adult Bird Description:
The adult bird has a reddish-brown crown. The back is dark brown with numerous wavy white streaks, and the lower back and primary wing feathers have numerous white spots, each edged with a slightly yellowish-brown. The chin and throat are white. The sides of the head, the front of the neck, and the breast are ash-gray. The belly, flanks, underwings, axillaries, and undertail coverts are dark brown with white streaks. The female’s plumage is duller, and her belly is a lighter color. The eyes are light brown (in juveniles) or red (in adults). The upper mandible and tip of the lower mandible are brown, while the base of the lower mandible is red. The legs are yellowish-gray.

- Tarsus (leg): 34 – 37 mm
- Bill: 31 – 34 mm
Distribution:
The Banded Crake is distributed in India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Southern China, Indochina, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
In Vietnam, this species can be found in most regions, from the plains to the high mountains.
