Size:
- Tail length: 16 cm
- Total length: 32 cm
This gecko species closely resembles the frilled gecko (Ptychozoon lionatum) but is larger. It also features more pronounced tail fringes that are slightly directed backward, being wider and having 10-12 serrations along both sides of the tail. The body is covered with numerous large tubercles on its back. The front toes and hind feet are connected by skin for almost their entire length. The body is slender, and the body patterns consist of bands of black, brown, and mottled white that encircle the body. In individuals with regenerated tails, serrations are usually absent. The skin membrane on the abdomen and cheeks expands widely on both sides when the gecko leaps from tree to tree while evading predators.
Habitat and Ecology:
This species is nocturnal and often coexists with other gecko species. They are occasionally seen resting on tree trunks during the day. When pursued, they typically jump down and use their skin flaps to glide to another tree or, at the very least, to prevent a fall. The diet of this species consists of small insects.
Distribution:
This species has a narrow distribution in Myanmar, Vietnam, Borneo, and in Vietnam, it has been observed in Yok Don, Bu Gia Map, and Dak Nong.
