Adult Male:

Head and neck are green. The upper back and shoulders are dark brownish with a slight greenish hue at the feather edges. The lower back, flanks, and uppertail coverts are green, with varying amounts of a greenish tinge. Central tail feathers are green; the outer edges of the lateral tail feathers are yellow with green edging. Wing coverts are green with yellow edging and a plum-red patch near the shoulder. Primary wing coverts are green with yellow edging. Primary flight feathers are green on the outer vanes, black on the inner vanes, with the green color becoming more dominant towards the inner feathers. The chin and throat are pale yellow or pale green. The belly is green, the chest is often slightly grayish, and the flanks and abdomen have a greenish tinge. The undertail coverts are bright yellow. Axillaries and underwing coverts are red.

Adult Female:

Generally green, with the exception of the blue coloration on the lower back. The head and nape are pale gray, with a slight yellowish tinge on the sides of the head. The throat is yellow, and the chest is pale green. Eyes are pale white. The skin around the eyes and the base of the beak is pale brownish-green. The upper mandible is yellowish-orange, and the lower mandible is horn-brown; in females, both mandibles are brown. Legs are dull green.

Distribution:

This species of short-tailed parrot is distributed from Myanmar and Thailand to Malaysia. In Vietnam, this species has only been observed in Sóc Trăng Province.
