Adult Male:

  • Head and Sides of Head: Bright pink
  • Cheeks and Nape: Pale silvery pink
  • Under the Lower Mandible, Chin, Throat, and a Stripe Below the Cheeks: Black, extending into a band on both sides and the back of the neck.
  • Dorsal Surface: Pale green, with a light yellow wash on the upper back.
  • Tail: Pale green, with the base of the feathers green and the tips of the feathers pale yellowish-white.
  • Wings: Green. Wing feathers and coverts are edged with a lighter color. The inner vanes of the primary flight feathers are dull black.
  • Medium Wing Coverts: A red streak is present.
  • Underparts: Pale yellowish-green.
  • Underwings and Axillaries: Green.

Adult Female:

  • Forehead: Grayish-pink, edged with yellow.
  • Neck: Lacks the black band found in males.
  • Eyes: White or pale yellow.
  • Upper Mandible: Orange-yellow.
  • Lower Mandible: Black.
  • Legs: Dull green.

Distribution:

The species Psittacula roseata is found in Bengal, Nepal, Assam, Myanmar, Thailand, South China, and Indochina.

In Vietnam: This species is present throughout forests with relatively open areas, from Quang Tri province southwards.
