Adult Male:
- Crown green; a faint black spot in front of the eyes. Sides of the head and a broad band around the neck are pink. A broad black band at the base of the lower mandible.
- Upper back pale green tinged with pale blue. Mid-back bright greenish blue. Lower back pink and uppertail coverts green.
- Central tail feathers are very long and slender, green-edged at the base. Outer tail feathers green. Underside of tail pale yellow.
- Shoulders and lesser wing coverts pale greenish yellow; greater wing coverts blue with green edges.
- The first primary flight feather is black; the others are black but with green edges on the outer vanes. Secondary flight feathers are blue.
- Underparts pale yellowish-green, with a blue tinge on the breast; flanks slightly yellow; undertail coverts greenish-blue.
Adult Female:
- Dorsum uniformly green, with only pink cheeks and bluish ear coverts; a broad dark blue band at the base of the lower mandible.
- Underwings bright yellow.
- Tail shorter than the male.
Juvenile:
- Plumage similar to the adult female, but with pale green cheeks.
Measurements:
- Wing: 150 – 158 mm; Tail (male): 250 mm; (female): 100 mm; Tarsus: 13 mm; Bill: 20 mm.
Distribution:
- The Long-tailed Parakeet is distributed in Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, and adjacent islands.
- Vietnam: This species is present in the South, but is rare.
