Adult Bird:
A very narrow black band begins at the corner of the beak, extending along the sides of the neck and merging with the pink collar above the neck. The head is a greenish-blue hue on the crown and nape, transitioning to pale yellow on the cheeks, ears, sides of the neck, and throat. The remaining dorsal area is pale green. The central tail feathers are green at the base and pale blue-green on the outer part; the outer tail feathers are green on the outer vane and yellow on the inner vane, at the tip and underside of the feathers.
The wings are green. The primary feathers are dark at the tips and pale black on the inner vane. There is a dull pinkish-red streak on the lesser wing coverts. The breast is pale yellow, transitioning to green on the remaining ventral parts. The underwings are pale blue-green on the small feathers and gray on the large feathers.
Female and Juvenile Birds:
They lack a pink collar and a black band behind the beak, as well as a streak on the lesser wing coverts. Their eyes are pale bluish-white. The beak is red. Legs are pale yellow or pale orange-yellow.
Measurements:
- Wing (male): 190 – 203 mm, (female): 179 – 199 mm;
- Tail (male): 240 – 280 mm, (female): 190 – 240 mm;
- Tarsus: 17 – 18 mm;
- Beak: 29 – 35 mm.
Distribution:
This parrot species is distributed in Thailand, Cambodia, Southern Laos, and Southern Vietnam.
In Southern Vietnam: this species is common in evergreen forests such as Châu Đốc, Tây Ninh, Bà Rịa, Thủ Dầu Một, Mỹ Tho and Biên Hòa.
