Morphological Characteristics:

The carapace is wider than it is long. The central dorsal region of the carapace is smooth, with only small pits, except for the anterior angles and frontal region, which have a rough texture. The frontal region is narrow, but broad, with a concave anterior margin in the middle and rounded lateral angles. The walking legs are slender and long. The terminal abdominal segment of the male is an equilateral triangle with a rounded apex.

Inhabits streams and rivers in mountainous and midland regions bordering mountains.

Hòa Bình Province (Chi Nê, Kim Bôi), Ninh Bình Province (Cúc Phương).

Currently only observed in Vietnam.

This is an endemic species, with its distribution limited to a narrow band within the Kim Bôi – Cúc Phương limestone mountain area. The estimated distribution area is less than 20,000 km². The area of occupancy is very limited, estimated to be less than 100 km².
