Identification:
The cephalothorax is nearly square, with a smooth central region featuring a rosette-like pattern. The forehead is narrow and distinctly divided into two lobes. The anterolateral and frontal regions are rough. The walking legs are long, and the terminal abdominal segment is triangular with a rounded apex and slightly curved sides.
Biology and Ecology:
Found in streams within mountainous forests, and narrow streams within limestone karst areas.
Distribution:
- Within Vietnam: Ninh Binh Province (Cuc Phuong Stream).
- Global: Currently only observed in Vietnam.
Value:
An endemic species of scientific value.
Conservation Status:
The area of distribution is very limited, restricted to Cuc Phuong National Park. The habitat area is extremely small, estimated to be less than 100 km².
IUCN Red List Category:
LR cd (Lower Risk – Conservation Dependent).
Conservation Measures:
Establish protected areas, prohibit exploitation. Conduct research on its biology and ecology, with the aim of developing captive breeding programs to preserve the gene pool.
