Adult Description:

  • Dorsal Plumage: Dark grayish-black, with a slight greenish sheen.
  • Wings and Tail: Slightly darker than the dorsal plumage, with a more pronounced greenish sheen. The tips of the tail feathers are white.
  • Throat, Chin, and Breast Plumage: The feathers are loose (not tightly packed together) and have dark shafts that are easily visible.
  • Chest and Abdomen: Gray.
  • Remaining Ventral Surface: Pale grayish-black.
  • Supercilium: A narrow white stripe comprised of small, stiff feathers with pale feather shafts.
  • Eyes: Brown or red.
  • Periocular Skin: Reddish-purple.
  • Bill: Grayish-green, with reddish bases and edges.
  • Legs: Dark grayish-black.

Distribution:

This subspecies is found in Myanmar, Southern Thailand, Cambodia, Southern Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Vietnam:

This species is present in the South Central Coast and Southern regions. They commonly inhabit forest edges and areas with dense vegetation.
