Adult:

Generally resembles the subspecies P. t. longicaudatus, but the white portion at the tips of the tail feathers is smaller. The white feather tip of the second tail feather from the outside inward measures 23.9 – 28 mm in longicaudatus, whereas it measures only 21.7 – 22.3 mm in saliens.

Distribution:

This species is distributed in northern Thailand, northern Laos, southern China, and northern Vietnam (from the Vietnam-China border to the central part of central Vietnam).
