Adult Characteristics:

Generally similar to the adult Phaenicophaeus species, but smaller in size and with slightly brighter coloration. The area in front of the eye is less feathered, the belly is a purer gray, and the abdomen is slightly darker.

Eyes are red. The bill is bluish-gray, with a red base and edges. Bare skin around the eye is reddish-purple. Legs are dark gray.

Measurements:

Wing: 125 – 136 mm; Tail: 221 – 229 mm; Tarsus: 32 – 33 mm; Bill: 29 – 30 mm.

Distribution:

A subspecies of Phaenicophaeus is found in Myanmar, Malaysia, and Sumatra. In Vietnam, this species has only been recorded in the forest region of Sóc Trăng Province.
