Adult Male:
The forehead, chin, and throat are black. The forehead, crown, nape, rump, and upper tail coverts are a yellowish-green tinged with gray, with the forehead being slightly more yellow. A broad reddish-brown streak is present behind the ear. The shoulders, back, and lesser wing coverts are of the same color but somewhat darker. The tail is brown, edged with pale yellowish-green. The median wing coverts are black at the base and white at the tip, while the greater wing coverts are black tinged with yellowish-green. The flight feathers are brownish-black, edged with yellow, except for the outermost feathers, and have a rufous patch at the base of the primary feathers. The ear coverts are grayish-yellowish-green. The cheeks, sides of the neck, and the remaining part of the abdomen are bright yellow, and the chest and flanks are slightly tinged with gray.
Adult Female:
The back is pale brown, slightly tinged with yellowish-green on the crown and rump. The yellow coloration on the abdomen is less vibrant than in the male.
General:
Eyes are brown. The beak is black in summer and pale yellowish-brown in winter. Legs are pinkish-brown.

Distribution:
This species is distributed in Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, and Indochina.
In Vietnam, this species is found from Phu Khanh Province (now part of Khanh Hoa Province) southward to the Mekong Delta.
