Adult Morphology:
The forehead and the anterior part of the crown are pale blue, or greenish-blue, gradually transitioning to green on the dorsal surface, including the head, tail, and wings. The area around the eyes is dark greenish-black. The chin is pale green. The throat has tufts of long, uneven, greenish-blue feathers that cover the upper part of the breast. The sides of the breast, the lower part of the breast, and the abdomen are buff-yellow, with green streaks down the center of the feathers. The undertail coverts, the underside of the wings, and the underside of the tail feathers are dull yellow.
The eyes are reddish-brown. The bill is black, with a pale white tip and base of the lower mandible. The legs are reddish-green.
Measurements:
Wing: 128 – 145 mm; tail: 120 – 138 mm; tarsus: 16 – 17 mm; bill: 37 – 45 mm.
Distribution:
This species is distributed in eastern India, Assam, Myanmar, Thailand, southern China, and Indochina. In Vietnam, this species is found in most forest regions from north to south.
