Adult Male:

The crown is steel-green with a slight golden sheen. The forehead, cheeks, ear coverts, sides and upper neck, upper back, inner secondary coverts, and wing coverts are velvety black. The lower back, shoulders, and adjacent scapular coverts, flanks, and upper tail coverts are reddish-green. The tail is dull green with steel-green edges.

The primary and outer secondary flight feathers are dark brown. The chin, throat, and upper breast are brownish with a pinkish-purple hue and appear to have horizontal barring. The breast and upper abdomen are reddish-brown. The lower abdomen, flanks, and under tail coverts are dull black. The axillaries and underwing coverts are black.

Adult Female:

The dorsal surface is yellowish-green with dark streaks down the middle of the feathers on the crown. The tail is black. The wings are brown with a slightly rufous edging. The central tail feathers have white tips. The ventral surface is dull yellow; the flanks and breast are a deeper yellow and have a slight greenish-gray wash. The axillaries and underwing coverts are pale yellow.

Measurements:

Eye and beak are dark brown. Legs are black.

Distribution:

This Pink-throated Sunbird species is distributed in Cambodia and Southern Vietnam. Specimens have been collected in Vietnam at Di Linh, Tay Ninh, Bien Hoa, and Phu Quoc.
