Adult Morphology:

The forehead, crown, nape, and upper neck are pale grayish-blue, with the sides of the head being a darker blue. The forehead and the front of the head have black stripes. There is white coloration in front of the eyes, around the eyes, and in a broad band behind the eyes. The remaining parts of the back are pale yellowish-brown. The flight feathers are black with green edges; the innermost secondary feathers and tertials have pale gray edges.

The tail feathers are gray with green edges and black tips. The outer two pairs of tail feathers have white vanes. The belly is pale brownish-white. The eyes are brown or gray. The beak is horn-gray. The legs are dull pinkish-brown.

Measurements:

Wing: 62-70 mm; Tail: 63-70 mm; Tarsus: 25 mm; Beak: 12-13 mm.

Distribution:

This species of blue-winged laughingthrush is distributed in Northern Thailand, Southwestern China (Yunnan), and Indochina.

In Vietnam, this species has been found in Lào Cai, Lai Châu, and Thanh Hóa provinces, at altitudes above 1,000 meters.
