Adult Birds:
Similar to the subspecies Milvus korschun govinda, but distinguished by more prominent white markings on the underwing coverts, which are clearly visible during flight. They often have a paler belly without any rufous coloration. Overall, they are larger, with paler black ear coverts, less rufous coloration throughout the plumage, and more streaking.
Juvenile Birds:
Similar to juvenile Milvus korschun govinda, but typically darker in coloration.
Measurements:
Wing Length: (Male): 470 – 529 mm, (Female): 462 – 552 mm; Tail Length: 288 – 345 mm; Tarsus Length: 52 – 62 mm; Bill Length: 34 – 37 mm.
Distribution:
This subspecies is found in Japan, Northern China, Mongolia, the Himalayas, and Northern Myanmar. They migrate southwards during the winter months. In Vietnam, they are commonly observed during winter throughout the North, extending as far south as Quảng Trị – Thừa Thiên.
