Adult Description:

The adult bird exhibits a triangular spot anterior to the eye and black feathers surrounding the eye. The crown, sides of the head, neck, flanks, upper tail, and tail are iridescent green and blue. The back is dark brown, lighter in the center, darker on the sides, and gradually blends with the surrounding black. The wing feathers are black with a blue sheen; the outer vanes of the tertials (the innermost flight feathers) are primarily iridescent green, with white on most of the inner vanes.

The chin and throat are gray. The undertail coverts are white. The flanks have white spots. The remaining underparts are dark brown. The tail feathers are rounded, with the tips of the feather shafts protruding outwards as barbs.

The eyes are dark brown. The beak is black. The legs are black or reddish-gray.

Distribution:

This species is distributed in Myanmar, Indochina, Malaysia, and Sumatra.

Vietnam: This species is found in the South Central Coast and Southern regions of Vietnam.
