Identifying Features:

This bat species is small, with a forearm length of 36 – 40.5 mm, a tail length of 24 – 30 mm, ear length of 18.5 – 21 mm, and a weight of 4 – 5.5 grams. The skull measures 13.2 – 13.9 mm in length. The dorsal (upper) body surface is yellowish-brown to pale grayish-brown; the ventral (under) body surface is yellowish-white to pale brown. The ears are large and rounded. The nose leaf is simple, lacking lateral appendages; the nasal septum bulges in the middle.

Biology and Ecology:

This bat lives in caves, often forming colonies of hundreds of individuals, sometimes cohabitating with the species Hipposideros larvatus.

Distribution:

This species is found in Pakistan, Northern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, the Malay Peninsula, and Borneo. In Borneo, it has only been recorded in Sabah, specifically in caves located in Marudu Bay, Madai, Baturong, Segarong, and the upper Kuamut River.
