Identification
Large hybrid snake. Head elongated, clearly distinct from the neck; snout narrow and elongated. Features include one cheek scale and 2 + 3 temporal scales. The upper lip has 8-10 scales. Body scales are arranged in 23 (sometimes 25 or 27) rows. Each side of the head has a black stripe, originating from the snout or cheek, which fades towards the neck. The back and flanks are bright green or light blue; the belly is light green. The tail or posterior tail region is reddish-brown. Body length reaches up to 2,300 mm.
Biology and Ecology
Inhabits montane evergreen forests, primarily arboreal. When provoked, it can flatten its neck and is known to be a very aggressive snake.

Vietnam: Khánh Hòa (Đá Bàn), Tây Ninh (Núi Bà Đen), Đồng Nai (Núi Dinh).
Global: Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines.

The hybrid snake is of scientific value and is traded internationally.
Conservation Status
Wild populations are few and rarely encountered. Threat level: Grade T (likely meaning Threatened).
Recommended Conservation Measures
Prohibit hunting and habitat destruction in the species’ natural distribution areas. Establish captive breeding programs within gene conservation areas.
