Description:

Snout-vent length: 119.0 mm (Grismer et al., [1999], with adult measurements ranging from 107-116 mm); tail length: 67.0 mm; head length (from snout tip to posterior edge of ear): 31.3 mm; head width: 20.0 mm; head height: 13.4 mm; distance from snout tip to anterior edge of eye: 12.8 mm; distance from posterior edge of eye to ear opening: 11.7 mm. Scale characteristics of the specimen collected in Cao Bang Province: 9/9 supralabials; 8/9 infralabials; 4 postmentals; 139 scale rows around midbody; 33 femoral pores; 11-12 rows of granular scales around the pores; 1-2 enlarged, distinct tubercles on each side of the cloaca; 11/11 subdigital lamellae under the first finger, 19/18 subdigital lamellae under the fourth finger; 12/12 subdigital lamellae under the first toe, and 22/23 subdigital lamellae under the fourth toe; claws covered by scales, with 4 scales per claw.

Ecology:

Inhabits rock crevices and caves on limestone cliffs in Ngoc Khe, Trung Khanh District, Cao Bang Province.

Distribution:

The species was newly recognized and reported to be distributed in Vietnam in November 2005. Currently, this lizard species has only been recorded in Ngoc Khe, Trung Khanh District, Cao Bang Province. This is one of four known species of Goniurosaurus in Vietnam.
