Description:
Generally, the plumage is a pale brownish-tan. A patch of feathers on the wings exhibits a blue-gray barring. When in flight, a conspicuous white patch is visible on the flanks. The tail is black. Feathers on the crown of the head may sometimes be erected to form a crest. They live in small, noisy flocks. Calls: Sharp and rapid.
Distribution:
South Central and South Vietnam. Specimens have been collected from various locations.
Conservation Status:
Resident, relatively common up to approximately 2,100 meters in elevation.
Habitat:
Open forests, particularly pine forests and forests dominated by Dipterocarp trees. They often forage at forest edges.
