Description:
Adult birds generally have plumage that is tawny-brown tinged with yellow, with the tips of the feathers marked by curved black markings, creating a scaled appearance. A black eyebrow stripe extends to the nape. The cheeks, ear coverts, and area in front of the eyes are gray. The outer edges of the outermost primary feathers are pale green, while the inner portions are black. The black tail feathers have tawny-brown tips, forming a border. The undertail coverts are tawny-brown with very faint or absent black scales. The eyes are white or pale blue.
Biology:
Nests with eggs, containing three eggs, have been found in Myanmar.
Habitat and Ecology:
Suitable habitats include shrub forests on high mountains in the Northwest region and the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
Distribution:
- Vietnam: Northwest region (only found in Lao Cai, Lai Chau, and the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, at an altitude of 1500m).
- World: Eastern Himalayas, Nepal, northern Myanmar, southwestern China (Yunnan).
Value:
A valuable genetic resource. Has scientific and aesthetic value.
