Identification:
Distinguishing features include a narrow, pale yellowish-brown eyebrow stripe. The forehead, area in front of the eyes, eye ring, chin, throat, and narrow, oval-shaped streaks on the breast are black. The entire dorsal surface, sides of the head, wing flanks, and tail are brownish-yellow with a greenish hue. The breast, abdomen, and underside of the tail are bright yellowish-brown. Eyes are brown or reddish-brown. The beak is grayish-black, sometimes with a white edge. Legs are brown. Measurements: Wing: 91 – 97 mm; Tail: 105 mm; Tarsus: 37 mm; Beak: 22 mm.
Biology and Ecology:
Inhabits high-elevation evergreen forests, typically above 1,000 meters. Its diet consists of insects found within its distribution range. It forages during the day, with peak activity in the early morning and late afternoon.
Distribution:
Vietnam: This Spotted Wren-Babbler has only been found in the Langbiang Plateau and Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park, Lam Dong Province.
World: Endemic to Vietnam.
Conservation Status:
Rare. They are currently protected within the Langbiang Plateau and Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park, Lam Dong Province.
