Biology and Ecology:
The Chestnut-bellied Squirrel inhabits primary and secondary old-growth forests, as well as the shrubby edges of forests. This species is diurnal, living both in trees and on the ground. - Worldwide: Nepal, Sikkim, Thailand, Indonesia
Value:
This is a rare species of scientific significance. Its attractive coloration makes it desirable, leading to hunting for the pet trade. Measures are needed to strictly prohibit hunting. Conservation efforts should focus on establishing protected areas, especially in forests where this species lives.
