Description:

This newly discovered gecko species, first described in 2008, has a total body length (including the tail) of 135.8-149.4 mm. The body exhibits attractive coloration: the dorsal surface is light brown, marked with 6-7 irregular, dark brown bands extending from the shoulder region to the sacrum. Occasionally, these bands may be broken into spots. The tail displays 11 alternating horizontal bands of dark brown and white coloration.

Habitat and Ecology:

This gecko species inhabits rocky habitats, specifically areas with abundant bedrock, at elevations up to 800 meters above sea level. Their diet consists of insects such as crickets and cockroaches.

Distribution:

The type specimens and comparative samples of this gecko species were collected from Mount Chứa Chan, Xuân Lộc District, Đồng Nai Province, Vietnam. The species was named after the renowned Vietnamese zoologist, Professor Dr. Đặng Huy Huỳnh, in recognition of his significant scientific contributions to the field of animal taxonomy in Vietnam.
