Identification:
The shell is egg-shaped, tapering at both ends, with a length of approximately 55mm. The dorsal surface is yellowish-brown, with a dark brown margin. The remaining area is creamy pink or slightly brownish, but very pale. Occasionally, it displays a few thickened patches. The ventral surface is white.
Biology and Ecology:
This species inhabits hard substrates, such as coral reefs or rocky reefs, sometimes found at depths up to 45m.
Distribution:
- Vietnam: Khánh Hòa province.
- Worldwide: Southern California, from Monterey Bay to Benito Island.
Value:
This is a rare, precious snail valued for its artistic and collectible qualities.
Conservation Status:
Listed in the Vietnam Red Book (1992). Although not a target for commercial harvesting, it is hunted for its ornamental value. Its population is very low, and it has only been found in Khánh Hòa to date. The population has declined by approximately 20%. Due to its limited distribution and small population size, it is highly vulnerable to extinction.

Conservation Measures:
Protection of individual populations through designated areas. Prohibiting the use of trawling nets in deep-water areas near the coast.
