Description:

Approximately 51 cm in length. The plumage is black. The beak is large and robust. Typically found alone or in pairs, but occasionally gathers in large groups, including while roosting. Its call is loud and can be heard from a considerable distance.

Distribution:

  • Vietnam: Found in most provinces throughout the country, including Thái Nguyên, Lạng Sơn, Vĩnh Phú, Tây Nguyên, and Đồng Nai.
  • Worldwide: Also present in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and China.

Habitat and Ecology:

This bird species, belonging to the Corvidae family (crows), is a resident species, found at altitudes ranging from 1,500 to 2,200 meters. It inhabits various environments, including plains, urban areas, coastal regions, and mangrove forests.
