Adult Male:
The crown transitions from dull green to a lighter green in the area above the eyes. The back, shoulders, and tertiary flight feathers are brown tinged with yellowish-green. The small and median wing coverts are dark brown; the greater wing coverts are pale green. The flight feathers are dark green with a band of sky blue towards the tips of the primary feathers. The flanks are dark green. The upper tail coverts are pale green. The central tail feathers are pale brownish-green, the others are dark green at the base, transitioning to pale green for the rest of their length, with the tips slightly tinged with dull black.
The sides of the head and throat are tinged with violet-green; the feathers of the throat have narrow, pale, glossy, white streaks along the shaft. The breast is brown-violet, transitioning to dark brown on the abdomen, and then pale green on the rest of the underside. The underwings are dark violet-green.
The eyes are brown. The eye-ring and bare skin in front of and behind the eyes are dull yellow. The beak is black. The legs are pale brownish-yellow.

Wing: 170 – 204 mm; Tail: 118 – 137 mm; Tarsus: 26 – 28 mm; Bill: 30 – 38 mm.
Distribution:
This species is distributed in Assam, eastern Bengal, Myanmar, Southern China (Yunnan), and Indochina.
In Vietnam: This species is found in Lai Chau, Quang Tri, Thua Thien, Kontum, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Bien Hoa, Thu Dau Mot and Tay Ninh.
