Description:

Adult plumage is smoky black, slightly brownish on the underside. The base of the primary feathers has a broad white band. The tips of the tail feathers have a narrow yellow band. Eyes are brown, and the skin around the eyes is pink. Legs are brown.

Resident in areas below 1500m elevation. Commonly found near streams.

Distribution:

  • Vietnam: From Nghe An to the South. Previously, specimens have been collected in Nghe An (Phu Quy), Song Be, Dong Nai, and Thuan Hai provinces.
  • World: Thailand, Indochina, Sumatra

Habitat is heavily impacted, leading to a significant decline in population and difficulty in observation. Threat level: R (Rare).
