Description:
Adult males exhibit vibrant, green plumage. They possess a prominent black spot behind the ear, three black bands on the wings, and black primary feathers. The tail is short. Females are duller in color and lack the black ear spot. The eyes are brown. The beak is green with a black culmen. The legs are pale greenish-yellow.
Biology:
Nests are found in March and April, containing 2-3 cream-colored eggs without spots.
Habitat and Ecology:
Inhabits diverse regions up to an altitude of 900 meters.
Distribution:
Vietnam: Previously observed only in Tay Ninh.
Worldwide: Southern Indochina and Malaysia.
Value:
A valuable genetic resource with scientific and aesthetic value.

Distribution boundaries are unclear, and the population is small. It has not been observed in recent years. Threat level: R (Rare).
