Description:

The shell is angular, 31 mm in length, and white with a pinkish hue. The dorsal side features a prominent ridge with numerous fine, perpendicular striae extending from the anterior end to the apex. Two white, rounded apexes, nestled within a circular groove, are present. The apexes are pink when the snail is alive. The ventral surface is relatively flat, characterized by approximately 20 small, sparse, and coarse marginal teeth (based on the specimen).

Habitat and Ecology:

Found living on soft corals (Alcyonaria) in the sublittoral zone. They typically occur in pairs (male and female) on the same coral colony.

Distribution:

  • Vietnam: Quảng Ngãi (Lý Sơn Island), Khánh Hòa (Văn Phong Bay, Hòn Nội, Hòn Tầm, Hòn Rùa, Bãi Tiên).
  • World: From Madagascar to Fiji.

Uses:

No economic significance (not used as food). Possesses aesthetic value and is suitable for collection.

Conservation Status:

Not a target for exploitation.

Recommended Conservation Measures:

General ecosystem protection is necessary. Prohibition of dynamite fishing and coral extraction. If captured, the snails should be returned to their habitat immediately while still alive.
