Description:
This bird is approximately 23 cm in length, larger than the Red Knot ( Calidris canutus ). It has a longer beak with a slightly decurved tip. The plumage features a dark breast band. In flight, pale white flanks and indistinct wing stripes are visible, with the secondary feathers being a lighter color, creating multiple pale patches. During breeding season, the bird exhibits a distinctive black breast band, while the back is grayer outside of the breeding season.
Distribution:
Northeastern Vietnam (coastal areas of the Gulf of Tonkin). Its habitat consists of intertidal mudflats along the coastline.
Status:
Winter visitor. Uncommon.
