Adult Bird Description:

The dorsal surface, from the forehead to the upper tail, along with the sides of the head and neck, is ash gray. The shoulders and wings are dark brown with a slight bronze sheen. The wing edges are white, and there is a white diagonal stripe on the inner vanes of the primary feathers. The tail is dark gray-black with white tips, and the inner vanes of the lateral tail feathers have some white barring. The chin, throat, and chest are light gray. The lower chest and abdomen are rufous-brown. The undertail coverts are white.

Juvenile Bird Description:

Overall, the plumage is rufous-brown, with black barring on the dorsal surface. The chin, throat, and chest are rufous-brown with black streaks. The remaining ventral surface is white with irregular dark brown barring. The first plumage is brown, with each feather having a broad rufous edge.

Eyes are reddish-brown. The beak is brown, with a pale yellow base and a slightly pink edge. The legs are yellow.

Distribution:

The species is found in eastern Bengal, Assam, the foothills of the Himalayas, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina, and southern China.

In Vietnam, this species can be found throughout the country, in areas such as village gardens, sparse forests, and places with many trees and relatively dense vegetation.
