Adult Plumage:

A white or reddish-brown eyebrow stripe extends from the eye to the back of the neck. There is a dark stripe below the eyebrow, sometimes tinged with reddish-brown. The forehead, area in front of the eyes, cheeks, and area behind the eyes are pale reddish-brown. The crown and nape are reddish-brown. The front of the neck is pale grayish-brown, with reddish-brown streaks forming a collar. The upper back, shoulders, wing coverts, and tertials are gray, with dark brown streaks and black tips to the feathers. The flanks and upper tail coverts are gray and grayish-brown, but the tail feathers have a small black streak in the middle. The central tail feathers are pale grayish-brown, slightly tinged with reddish-brown, and have wavy, reddish-brown bars. The primary and secondary flight feathers are reddish-brown. The chin, throat, and front of the neck are pale reddish-brown. The breast is reddish-brown mixed with white, bordered with gray. The remaining underside is white, slightly tinged with reddish-brown, with broad black streaks. There are no black streaks in the middle of the abdomen. The eyes are pale brown. The beak is grayish-brown. The legs are pale greenish-gray.

Distribution:

This bird species is distributed in India, Southern China, Laos, and Vietnam.

Vietnam: This species is found in Lao Cai (Sapa) and Lai Chau provinces.
