Adult Description:

Adult birds, both male and female, are nearly identical in appearance. The Lao Partridge ( Arborophila charltonii ) differs from previous subspecies in the absence of a white band with black spots on the lower throat, and its brighter overall coloration. Specifically, the lower throat area, located above the black band, lacks spots, contributing to the overall brighter plumage, with more defined feather markings. The eyes are brown. The skin around the eyes and the throat are bright red. The beak is black. The legs are reddish-purple.
