Adult Plumage:
The forehead is yellowish-gray with black speckling. The black speckling becomes larger and denser towards the rear of the head, forming a black band at the nape of the neck, extending down the back of the neck. A black band extends from the base of the beak, passing through the eyes and down the sides of the neck. A broad, long white eyebrow stripe is present above the eyes. The area below the eyes, the cheeks, the chin, and the upper throat are pure white. The lower throat is whitish, tinged with pink, and speckled with black.
The breast is yellowish-brown, fading towards the flanks and belly. The upper parts of the body are yellowish-green, with black and brown streaks. The feathers on the flanks are pure white with black tips. The eyes are brown. The bare skin around the eyes is red. The beak is black, and the legs are yellowish-pink.
Measurements:
- Male: Wing: 135-152 mm; Tail: 55-60 mm
- Female: Wing: 125-135 mm; Tail: 50 mm
Distribution:
The White-throated Partridge is found in high-altitude regions from 1,000 to 1,500 meters in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Specimens have been collected in the Lam Vien Plateau, near Da Lat, and the Di Linh Plateau.
