Summer Plumage:
- Head and neck: Mahogany brown with white streaks.
- Crown and nape: Darker coloration.
- Chin: Black.
- A broad white stripe extends from the front of the eye to the nape.
- Back, flanks, upper tail coverts, and tail: Brown, with each feather edged in grey-brown or light grey.
- Inner scapulars: Long, black with a green sheen and white edges, with a long white streak down the center of the feather.
- Outer scapulars: Black with a broad bluish-grey outer edge.
- Wing coverts: Bluish-grey.
- Greater wing coverts: White edges, forming a white stripe in front of the speculum.
- Speculum: Steel-greenish-grey, bordered with white on the posterior edge.
- Flight feathers: Brown or greyish-brown.
- Breast: Brown with black or dark brown streaks.
- Abdomen: White, gradually turning pale brown towards the rear.
- Flanks: White with narrow black bars.
- Rectrices: Each has two broad black and grey bands separated by a black line.
- Under tail coverts: White or pale buff, some feathers with brown spots.
Winter Plumage:
- Resembles the female plumage, except the wings remain the same as in the summer plumage.
Female:
- Upperparts: Dark brown.
- Underparts: Pale white.
- Feathers on the back: Lighter-colored edges.
- Wing coverts: Pale grey-brown.
- Speculum: Similar to the male, but with a less intense green sheen or none at all.
- Chin and throat: White.
- Neck: Pale grey-white or pale buff, with narrow dark brown streaks.
- A white or pale buff stripe extends from the front of the eye to the nape.
- Breast: Brown with white streaks.
- Lower breast and abdomen: White, buff-brown or buff.
- Flanks and under tail coverts: Same color, but with brown streaks and spots.
- Eyes: Dark brown.
- Bill: Black-brown.
- Tarsi: Dark grey.

Distribution:
The white-eyed pochard’s distribution includes the temperate regions of Europe and Asia. In winter, they migrate south to the Mediterranean coast, North and Central Africa, Iraq, Iran, India, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, South China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Vietnam:
This species occurs throughout the plains from North to South. It is less common in Northern Vietnam than A. crecca.
